Deux bols Shigaraki faits à Iga, Préfecture de Mie, par le céramiste Kotsuji Sinichi.

Sinichi san aime la terre imparfaite. Il commande à son fournisseur de terre un mélange spécial de deux terres chamottées (avec du grain) qui est fait exclusivement pour lui. L'émail de ces bols est fait en deux cuissons, un premier émail est appliqué sur la terre, puis après la première cuisson, un deuxième émail est superposé au premier, créant cette couleur et ces effets très spécifiques.

J'ai rencontré Sinichi san l'année dernière sur un marché de céramique où il vendait ses pièces. J'ai été immédiatement séduite par la couleur bleue intense de son émail. J'utilise tous les jours ces bols chez moi à Kyoto.

Sinichi san likes the imperfect earth. He orders from his earth supplier a special mixture of two grog earths (with grain) that is made exclusively for him. The glaze of these bowls is done in two firings, a first glaze is applied on the ground, then after the first firing, a second glaze is superimposed on the first, creating this very specific color and effects.

I met Sinichi san last year at a ceramics market where he was selling his pieces. I was immediately seduced by the intense blue color of its enamel. I use these bowls every day at my home in Kyoto.
