Balle bordée "Temari". Le mot temari vient d'une combinaison de deux caractères TE (手), signifiant "main" et MARI (鞠 ou 毬) "balle". C'est une forme d'art folklorique et un artisanat japonais originaire de Chine, introduit au Japon vers le 7e siècle après J-C. La beauté de cette balle réside dans la transformation par la broderie d'un fil métalisé en un motif géométrique et floral complexe. Sur une simple sphère, des formes prennent vie grâce à la lumière qui vient les éclairer et nous permet de contempler sa construction. Traditionnellement, les boules temari étaient offertes aux enfants le jour du Nouvel An pour souhaiter leur bonheur. Il est également de coutume d'offrir un kimono à motif temari à une mariée en guise de porte-bonheur, dans l'espoir qu'elle pourra fonder une famille heureuse.

It is a Japanese folk art form and craft originally from China, introduced to Japan around the 7th century AD.The beauty of this ball lies in the transformation of a single metallic thread into an intricate geometric and floral pattern. On a simple sphere, forms come to life thanks to the light that illuminates them and allows us to contemplate its construction. Traditionally temari balls were offered to children on New Year’s day to wish for their happiness. It is also customary to give a temari-patterned kimono to a bride as a good-luck charm, in the hope that she will be able to build a happy family.
